Friendship, true friendship, shouldn’t require fear. The first steps of love between two people usually mean this, but only because they are moments of extreme vulnerability. We hope against hope and simultaneously imagine the worst.
In such moments, those who are to become true friends battle through the fear they themselves surely do also sense and suffer from.
In such moments we ourselves will surely behave in the same way.
It’s true friendship I pursue, not the friendship of fear.
And that is where I am today.
